Get Results Through Experienced Chiropractic Care

For over 30 years, Dr. Mark Miller has been providing trusted Chiropractic Services for all his patients, here in the Bluegrass, and on five continents through Medical Missions. He believes that chiropractic care is an essential part of your Quest to be Healthy and live a Fulfilling Life. When your spine is out of alignment, it can adversely affect other parts of your body, since the spine is the pathway to millions of nerves. The road toTrue Health can begin, once improper Nerve Function is detected and restored.

Come visit our office to have your Spinal Health evaluated.

Next, Dr. Miller will visit with you to evaluate how he can best help you. You will then be examined and X-rayed of any clinically necessary area. Once Dr. Miller determines he can help you, a Chiropractic Adjustment (spinal manipulation) will be performed and any additional therapy the Doctor deems necessary..

The Chiropractic Examination

After a consultation and case history of your problem, Dr. Miller will perform a physical examination. He will utilize a variety of methods to determine the spinal segments that require Chiropractic Treatment. The exam will include, but not limited to: motion palpation techniques (feeling the vertebrae by hand) to determine what spinal segments are restricted in movement or fixated.. Then

Dr. Miller will perform Various Orthopedic (for the joints) and Neurological testing (for the nerves), a skeletal structural evaluation, and any Spinal X-rays the Doctor deems Medically necessary.

Patient Benefits: receive a correct diagnosis and precise treatment plan.

Spinal X-rays

X-rays and other types of imaging provide valuable information for both you and your doctor. These pictures can reveal fractures, bone disease, bone spurs, joint degeneration, and spinal mis-alignment. These X-rays will be taken standing up or Weight bearing to determine your spinal structure. They also will serve later as documentation for your progress.. Many precautions are taken for the safety of our patients when taking X-rays:

• Only necessary views are taken.

• Latest up-to-date equipment is used.

• Regular government inspections of the x-ray machine.

• Sensitive high-speed film is used.

• Filters and collimation limit the beam exposer.

• Shields protect sensitive body parts.

Patient Benefits: A visual record of the spine can confirm other exam findings and make chiropractic care more precise, identify any abnormalities like fractures and pathologies (disease processes).

The Spinal Adjustment

The Spinal Adjustment is Chiropractic's primary source of care. It is a procedure in which  Dr. Miller uses his hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled, sudden moderate force (manipulation) to a spinal joint. Usually, this joint has abnormal movement patterns that can affect the nervous system function and can cause pain..   With the Adjustment an accompanying "pop," or audible sound can be heard, caused by air released. There is a relieving sensation most of the time, although some minor discomfort has been reported if the surrounding muscles are in spasm, and there is pre-existing inflammation in the spinal joints.

Patients Benefits: Pain relief, reduce spinal dysfunction, increase range of motion, reduce nerve irritability and improving bodily function.

Intersegmental Traction

Intersegmental traction introduces passive motion into the spine, to stretch spinal joints while increasing mobility. During this form of therapy, discs receive nutrients from the circulation of fluids surrounding spinal joints. This type of therapy helps prevent disc degeneration caused by long-term fixations, which prevent natural circulation and lead to disc thinning.

Patient Benefits: comfortable and relaxing, increase mobility and improves circulation of spinal fluids.

Flexion Distraction Technique

Flexion-distraction therapy is performed on a segmented table, that moves as

Dr. Miller gently manipulates your spine. The treatment table lowers or flexes, changing the positioning of your body, and when your body drops slightly, gravity enhances the effects of treatment and helps realign your spine.. The manipulations, combined with the table's movements, stretch and decompress your spine, relieving your back and leg pain (Sciatica).

Patient Benefits: Reduce pressure on your spinal nerves and discs, decrease bulging of herniated discs, relieve stiffness, promote good disc health, improve range of motion and mobility, improve posture, eliminate or delay the need for surgery in some cases, and relieve pain and numbness in the back, buttocks and legs.

Spinal Pelvic Stabilizers

(Custom Foot Orthotics)

Did you know that 77% of people have some sort of "fallen arches"? This can cause instability in the feet, which is the foundation of your body. Fallen arches are linked to instability and imbalance in the spine. When muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints or bones are not in an optimal functional position, then pain and fatigue can exist.

Most patients usually ask if they need an orthotic and which type would be best. I recommend a foot orthotic from "Foot Levelers," they have been addressing these types of problems for over 65 years. If you suffer from low back pain, plantar fasciitis, knee pain, hip pain or even neck pain, a Stabilizing Orthotic from Foot Levelers can help.

Patient Benefits: They can help improve pain, posture, balance and physical performance in all aspects of life. They help prevent or treat low back pain, hip pain, knee pain and neck pain and are among the best ways to deal with foot conditions such as bunions, heel spurs and plantar fasciitis.

Rehabilitation

Chiropractic rehabilitation involves the restoration of proper joint function of the spine or extremities and the strengthening of supporting muscles and soft tissue. This will usually include specific Spinal Adjustments (Manipulation), combined with a program of stretching, resistance training, and exercises to improve muscle tone. Most of these simple exercises or "maneuvers" can be performed at home.

Patient Benefits: improve range of motion, strengthen the soft tissue, increase flexibility, and speed the recovery process.

Electro-Muscle Stimulation

Electro – Muscle Stimulation is a unique form of electrical current that is administered at the sight of a soft tissue injury, especially muscles, to block pain. This is accomplished by decreasing spasticity and reduce swelling in those soft tissues.

Patient Benefits: minimize pain sensation, helps decrease swelling, promote general muscle tone and speed the healing process.

Trigger Point Therapy

"Myofascial" is a word that means muscle tissue, and the "myo" refers to the connective tissue surrounding and inside the "fascia." When the muscles get stressed or injured, they form "trigger points," which are like contracted knots that lead to tightness and pain. When our muscles have built up trigger points, we will experience a loss of normal function, physical limitations and pain. Trigger Points in the Myofascial are a prevalent cause of pain. When pressed on, trigger points can be quite painful, causing a shortening of the muscle fibers.

Trigger point therapy involves the applied pressure to these painful, sensitive areas to alleviate the pain on-site and in other areas of the body. The doctor will apply pressure on these painful trigger points to relax the muscle and affected tissues. When pressure is applied to the trigger point, it may cause significant discomfort and a decrease in pain. This is performed while the patient performs some deep breathing exercises that help improve blood circulation and it releases the constricted areas in the muscles.

Patient Benefits: reducing headaches, muscle tension, improves range of motion, increases flexibility, improves posture and relieves pain.

Moist Heat Therapy

Moist Heat therapy is an effective remedy for back pain because it boosts circulation, allowing nutrients and oxygen to travel to joints and muscles.

Patient Benefits: helps repair damaged muscles, relieves inflammation, and improves back stiffness

Ice Therapy

In most instances, the Doctor of Chiropractic may use ice on your back only within the first 24 to 72 hours following an injury. Cold therapy helps minimize swelling and inflammation.

Patient Benefits: eases pain and decreases tissue damage.
